New public footpath for Carrington Rec

New public footpath for Carrington Rec

Ash Parish Council (APC) reported that it had received complaints from residents regarding the lack of a public footpath between the entrances to Carrington Recreation Ground. Consequently during busy times, such as school pickup and drop off for Holly Lodge School, Children and Parents are at risk as they walk on the road. Following these safety concerns, APC presented a proposal for a project to mitigate this as the council is responsible for Carrington Rec.

Council approved new footpath for Carrington

On Monday 12th December 2022, APC approved this project, which seeks to locate a public footpath behind the current bollards. The path will run from the Carrington Lane Entrance from the East, towards the Western Lysons Avenue / Lynchfoard Road / Strafford Road roundabout entrance where it will connect to the existing footpath.

The project is estimated to cost £30,000 + VAT, and will now be subject to the APC procurement process to select the most competitive quote.
