Aspen Construction has been granted permission by Surrey County Council to carry out emergency works on a rising main serving a pumping station as part of ongoing highway improvement works. As a result, a section of Harpers Road will remain subject to a temporary road closure from 11 October 2026.
The closure affects Harpers Road (D67) between the access to Pine Cottages and the junction with Great Hawleys Lane. The works are expected to take approximately six weeks, although the Temporary Traffic Order will remain in force for up to 11 months if required to accommodate the programme of works.
A signed diversion route will be in place via Harpers Road, Wyke Lane, A323 Guildford Road, and back to Harpers Road. Advance warning signs will be displayed before and during the closure.
Information for Residents and Businesses
Access for residents, emergency services, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained throughout the duration of the works. Site staff will help facilitate access to homes and businesses when it is safe to do so.
The temporary closure is expected to operate 24 hours a day while works are underway, although restrictions will only apply when the appropriate traffic management signs are in place.
Surrey County Council has confirmed that no property will lose sole access as a result of the closure, and access will be maintained via the diversion route where necessary.
Residents requiring assistance are encouraged to speak directly with site staff, who will be able to help with most access-related issues.
