Thanks to the kindness of local residents, the Christmas Food Parcels Project team has been very busy this week. For each family that registered, a package containing gifts, and food items has been arranged thanks to Charitable donations. Whilst Christmas comes once a year, the work of the Food Parcels project continues all year round. The team organise their deliveries, from The Chappell on Wharf Road, where they also provide a community fridge. The Fridge is located outside and is well-signed. Here residents “can give what you can and take what you need“.
Alex Sanderson from the Food Parcels Project said
This year we have provided food parcels to over 40 local families in Ash. On behalf of all our families and everyone at the Project, we would like to thank community who has continued to support us through these tough economic times. As well as food parcels, we also host a Community Café at The Chappell on Mondays 9:30-12:30 in term time (opens again 8th Jan 2024) and at St Mary’s Church on Fridays 10:00-13:00 with soup/toasties lunch at 12pm. Both are registered on Surreys Warm Welcome Venues. If you would like to find out more, contact us on 07730 609446 or email FoodParcels@ash-vale.org.uk
Project financial support
At a recent meeting, Ash Parish Council agreed to provide financial support to the Food Parcels Project as not all the project needs can be met with food donations alone.
