Ash Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade 2026

Remembrance Day

On Sunday 8 November 2026, the community of Ash will once again gather in solemn reflection for the annual Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade, organised by Ash Parish Council. This important community event brings together residents, veterans, serving personnel, uniformed organisations, schools, faith groups and local representatives to honour those who have served and sacrificed in conflicts past and present.

Parade and Service Details

The parade will assemble at the Ash Centre and step off at 10:30 am, proceeding along Ash Hill Road to the Ash War Memorial.

The Remembrance Service will take place at the memorial and will include the laying of wreaths, readings, the sounding of the Last Post, and the Two-Minute Silence at 11:00 am.

Following the service, participants will return to the Ash Centre where refreshments will be available.

Also on display within the Ash Centre will be the Peace Day Poppy Wall, which records the residential locations of those named on the Ash War Memorial and helps tell the story of the local men who gave their lives during conflict.

Community Participation

As always, the event welcomes participation from a wide range of groups, including:

  • Veterans and serving personnel
  • Ash Manor School and cadet forces
  • Guides, Scouts, and other youth organisations
  • Faith leaders and civic representatives

Veterans wishing to join the parade are asked to assemble near the Ash Centre car park exit barrier before the parade begins.

A Moment of Unity

Remembrance Sunday remains one of the most significant events in the parish calendar. It provides an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together, reflect on the sacrifices made by previous generations, and honour the courage, service and dedication of members of the Armed Forces.

Whether you are attending for the first time or continuing a long-standing family tradition, your presence helps ensure that the memory of those who served is never forgotten.

Ash Hill Road Closure

To facilitate the parade and service safely, Ash Hill Road will be closed between 9:30am and 12:30pm on Sunday 8 November 2026.

The closure will extend between:

  • The Shawfield Road / Vale Road / Wharf Road roundabout, and
  • The junction with Guildford Road.

Vehicle movements will not be permitted through the closure during this period. Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained at all times, and closure points will be staffed by event marshals.

The event is organised by Ash Parish Council.
