The Guildford Beat (Surrey Police) is appealing for any information or CCTV footage following the launch of a murder investigation in Ash. On Thursday 11th May 2023 a woman in her 50s was found dead at an address in Church View, Ash. A 61-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.
In response to the post on social media by Guildford Beat, many residents have sent their words of support and condolences to the victim’s family at this tragic time. The police are asking for information from residents who were in this area on the morning of 11th May 2023.

Update from Surrey Police
Enquiries are continuing after a murder investigation was launched following the body of a woman being found at an address in Ash on Thursday, 11 May. Officers were called to a property in Church View at around 5.50 pm by the South East Coast Ambulance Service following a concern for safety. On arrival, a woman in her 50s was sadly found dead inside the property. The investigation, led by Surrey and Sussex’s Major Crime Team, to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death remains ongoing.
A 61-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.
A 64-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder as part of our enquiries has been released without charge with no further action.
A post-mortem was carried out yesterday (Saturday, 13 May), which established that the cause of death was a head injury. Formal identification is yet to take place. The investigation remains ongoing and we are working closely with the coroner.
There remain a number of police cordons in place while officers continue to investigate, and there will remain a police presence in the area for reassurance. If you have any concerns, you can speak to one of our uniformed officers.
