Following the success of clap for carers campaign, Mary Beggs-Reid from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, to help battle loneliness and bring communities together after a difficult year, is asking people from across the country to come together once again. Where able all are asked to stand on their doorsteps at 6pm on Christmas Eve and ring a bell or bash a saucepan two minutes.
The organisers said the idea is to make those suffering from loneliness, especially after a difficult year, feel the festive spirit. In an interview with the BBC she said “This will be our happy moment. Covid can not take this from us so ring louder.” adding “This year the Christmas spirit is so needed and for two minutes we can make sure nobody feels alone.”
