Basingstoke Canal Society: Autmn Update

Basingstoke Canal Society 2026 calendar and boat trips

The Basingstoke Canal Society (BCS) continues to be the beating heart of the canal community, with its dedicated volunteers working tirelessly both on and off the water. Over the past few months, BCS volunteers have been busy maintaining the canal, running trip boats, and organising working parties to ensure the canal remains a vibrant and accessible resource for all.

2026 Calendar Now Available

After receiving an exceptional array of entries, the Society is delighted to announce that the 2026 Basingstoke Canal calendar is now available for purchase on its website. The calendar, featuring stunning images from across the canal, is a testament to the beauty and diversity of the waterway. All proceeds from calendar sales—and from the Society’s online shop and event stalls go directly towards the ongoing preservation and enhancement of the canal.

The online shop also boasts a range of new books and unique gifts, perfect for canal enthusiasts and those looking for something special.

Last Chance for 2025 Boat Trips

With the sun still shining, there’s still time to enjoy a trip on the canal before the season ends. The popular trip boat, Kitty, runs from Woking Town Wharf every Saturday and Sunday throughout October, with additional trips during the October half term. For those seeking a more adventurous outing, the Ramble and Cruise trip from Odiham on Sunday, 5th October, offers a return journey to Winchfield, with the option of a one-way ticket and a scenic walk back. A ploughman’s lunch is included, making it a perfect day out.

Looking Ahead: 2026 and Beyond

As the boating season winds down, BCS volunteers are already preparing for an exciting 2026. Next year will see the launch of Kitty II, a brand-new electric trip boat in Woking, marking a significant step towards sustainable canal experiences. Even more notably, 2026 will be a year of celebration as the Society marks its 60th anniversary, a remarkable milestone for an organisation that has done so much to keep the canal alive.

Community Recognition

The Basingstoke Canal Society is honoured to have been named Ash Parish Council’s Charity of the Year for 2025. The Society extends its heartfelt thanks to the Council and looks forward to connecting with the community at the upcoming Ash Fantasia event.
