The Basingstoke Canal Society regularly hosts “Chobham Talks” events, which not only discuss future plans and policies relating to the canal but also its history. At its November event, the Society welcomed author, Liz Dodwell. She presented her new book called “My Mother Brough a Canal“. The book talks all about the trials and tribulations of what happens when your mother purchases a canal in 1949 and in the decades that followed. The book includes many photos and paper cuttings from years gone by.
The book is available from the society book shop: www.basingstoke-canal.org.uk/product-category/books
