SCC Road Repair: Shawfield Road stud replacement

Shawfield Road stud replacement

Planned works:

Surrey County Council (SCC) Highways has issued an advanced notice of the (B3206) Shawfield Road Closures between 8 pm Monday 3rd October until 6 am 4th October 2022. Following the surface redressing completed earlier in 2022, the reflective road studs are now to be replaced. Road users are advised to expect delays whilst this work is completed.

Sometimes plans must change, often due to bad weather or problems on other works in the same programme which can have a knock-on effect.

What are road studs?

In addition to road markings, on some roads, you’ll see reflective road studs on the road. These are also called cat’s eyes, because as you approach them they look like a pair of cat’s eyes on the road, and they originated here in the UK back in 1933.

Information to residents and Businesses

Sections of Shawfield Road, Ash have temporary closures along sections of the road while SCC carries out these works. The engineers will make sure you can get to and from your house or business but there will be times when delays are unavoidable. Residents are advised to talk to a member of staff on-site if you need help.

Buses

Please check with your bus operator for any alterations to the service during the closure. Stage Coach offers a journey planner on their website to see how it impacts you, see https://www.stagecoachbus.com/plan-a-journey.
