New toucan crossing on Ash Street

New crossing on Ash Street

Surrey County Council (SCC) Highways has issued an advanced notice of the part road closure of Star Lane and traffic lights on Ash Street.  This will be from 23rd July until 31st August 2024. The works are to install a “New Toucan crossing and road table with associated footway realignment, Kerb works, surfacing, road table, drainage, road signs and lines”. SCC Highways is also planning overnight road closures of Ash Street for 5 nights 7 pm – 5 am.

Star Lane will be closed from outside the entrance to the library’s car park to the junction with Ash Street in order to support traffic management of works on Ash Street.

Whatis toucan crossing

A toucan crossing, named by the Department for Transport, means two can cross. It is designed for both pedestrians and cyclists. It has two sets of buttons to request the lights turn red to stop the flow of traffic.
