As work progresses on the Ash Road Bridge, Students from Ash Manor have been invited to visit the works.
Fleur Sanders (An English Teacher at the school) said:
This term, Year 10 students from Ash Manor School were given the opportunity to explore and gain an insight to the development of Ash Bridge.
Ash Bridge is being designed to better pedestrians safety and also reduce traffic congestion in the local area.
During the visit, students were able to ask their own questions regarding the latest project at Ash Station, as well as obtaining information regarding the plethora of job roles within the STEM industry and that are required to make sure a project of this size is delivered and completed safely.
As part of the local community, a competition will also be launched for AMS students where they will be given the opportunity to decide on a name for the new bridge.
Ash Road Bridge update
The sites have been cleared, site offices are installed on the south site, embankments constructed, and piling completed on both sides of the railway. Traffic management is in place with Foreman Road closed between Ash Church Road and Foreman Park. Traffic is being diverted along Grange Road. A Community Forum has been set up to give local residents an opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns about the project. The first forum was held in November 2023. If you’re not already signed up and would like to be involved, please email AshRoadBridge@VolkerFitzpatrick.com.
