A pedestrian footbridge linking the Winchester Road and Old school Close has been closed by Network Rail following safety concerns.
A notice displayed on the structure states:
“FOOTBRIDGE CLOSED AHEAD
RISK OF FALLING THROUGH”
The notice carries Network Rail branding and has been erected behind temporary fencing blocking access to the bridge.
The footbridge spans the railway line and provides a pedestrian connection between the two residential areas.
Network Rail’s notice does not provide further details about the nature or extent of the issue, stating only that there is a risk of falling through.
No public announcement explaining the closure or outlining any repair timetable has been identified at the time of writing.
Residents Wishing to cross the railway track may now divert via College Road snd Shawfield Road while the bridge remains out of use.
