Don’t Forget: The Clocks Go Back This Weekend!

Victoria Hall

As the seasons shift and autumn deepens, it’s time once again for the annual clock change. On Sunday, 26th October 2025, the United Kingdom will officially return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). At 2:00 AM, the clocks will go back one hour to 1:00 AM, giving us all an extra hour in bed, and marking the end of British Summer Time (BST).

This change means that evenings will become noticeably darker earlier, with around 60 minutes less daylight at the end of the day. While mornings will be a bit brighter for a while, the shorter days are a clear sign that winter is on its way.

To avoid any confusion, it’s a good idea to set your clocks back on Saturday night before going to bed. Most smartphones and digital devices will update automatically, but traditional clocks and watches will need to be adjusted manually.

The clock change is also a great opportunity to check other household items, like smoke alarms and heating timers, to make sure they’re working properly and set correctly for the new time.

Whether you’re enjoying a cosy Sunday morning lie-in or heading to church, don’t forget to make the adjustment and embrace the slower pace of the season.
