Remembrance Sunday 2025: Honouring Service and Sacrifice in Ash

Remembrance Sunday 2024

On Sunday 9th November 2025, the community of Ash will once again gather in solemn reflection for the annual Remembrance Service and Parade, hosted by Ash Parish Council APC. This cherished event brings together residents, veterans, local organisations, and dignitaries to honour those who have served and sacrificed in conflicts past and present.

Parade and Service Details

The day begins at 10:30 AM, with the parade departing from the Ash Centre and making its way to the Ash War Memorial on Ash Hill Road. The road will be closed from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM to ensure the safety of all attendees.

The service at the memorial will include traditional elements such as the laying of wreaths, readings, and a two-minute silence, observed at 11:00 AM. Following the service, the parade will return to the Ash Centre, where refreshments will be available. Also on display within the Ash Centre will be the Peace Day Poppy Wall describing the residential location of all the persons listed on the war memorial.

Community Participation

As always, the event welcomes participation from a wide range of groups, including:

  • Veterans and Serving personal
  • Ash Manor School and cadet forces
  • Scouts, Guides, and youth organisations
  • Faith leaders and civic representatives

Veterans wishing to join the parade are asked to meet at the Ash Centre car park exit barrier prior to the start.

A Moment of Unity

Remembrance Sunday in Ash is more than a ceremony, it’s a moment of unity. It’s a time when generations come together to reflect on the cost of peace and the enduring legacy of those who gave their all.

Whether you’re attending for the first time or returning as part of a long-standing tradition, your presence helps keep the memory alive.

Ash Hill Road Closure

Due to the Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade, APC has advised that Ash Hill Road will be closed from its junction with the Shawfield Road/Vale Road/Wharf Road roundabout and its junction with the Fairview Road from 09:30 until 12:30 on Sunday 10th November 2024. Vehicle movement will not be allowed during the closure period. Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times. The closure barriers will be manned at all times, ask a member of staff if you have any questions.
