Ash Parish Council (APC) has presented a Cheque of £2600 to the Royal Surrey Hospital Charity. Dennis Wheeler (Parish Clerk), Alison Watmore (Deputy Clerk) & Cllr John Tonks (Events Chairman) visited the Royal Surrey to meet their Fundraising Manager who explained how the donation would be used.
Why has this donation been made?
Each APC organises community events, including the Village Fete and Christmas Fantasia. Profits generated from the events, such as the proceeds from the raffle, bar, brass band concert and table stalls, are collected and donated to a single charity. For the year ending 31st December 2023 APC collected £2600 which has now been donated to the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. Last year the events working group chose to donate its events profits to the Frimley Park Health Charity and has selected the Ash Villages Food Parcels Project as the nominated charity for 2024.
Sandy Lowry (Community and Events Fundraising Manager) said;
Thank you for your wonderful fundraising donation of £2600 for our Greatest Need Fund to support our patients and staff here at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust.
This money can be used to purchase new equipment, support new and enhanced facilities, for example, specialist, reclining chemotherapy chairs for our Chemotherapy Day Unit or help support major refurbishments such as the multi-million pound Cancer Centre refurbishment, that we are delighted to have assisting with £500,000 of charity funding.
Without generous fundraisers, like you, we simply couldn’t do what we do, thank you so much for your support.
