Mcdonald’s has submitted plans to build a new drive-thru within the A331 / A31 Tongham services off the Hogs Back. The plans describe space for 45 car parks and a play frame. If approved will add to the growing number of food stores which currently include Asda, Greys, Leon, Subway & Starbucks. The planned restaurant would be in operation 24/7 and could create up to 120 local jobs.
The plans have caused some controversy among local residents who are concerned about the impact of littering and the pollution on environment. Surrey County Council has recently conducted road improvements to ease congestion in this area, however, this does not allay fears that this new restaurant could cause further connection in this area.
