13 December Council Meeting Cancelled
Ash Parish Council (APC) has this morning confirmed that it has canceled its full council meeting that was scheduled for Monday 13 December 2021. The Council told Ash Parish News that this decision was taken having reviewed the guidance from the National Association of Local Councils (NALC). The Council was concerned that holding an in-person meeting in the advertised location was no longer suitable. Now that the meeting is canceled, a new meeting will be scheduled once a suitable location is available, with given notice to all residents who wish may attend. The law currently requires that this Full Council Meeting is to be held in public, and any changes to the location of a council meeting must be issued with one week’s notice.
Statement from the council
In view of the rapid rise in Covid 19 cases, Ash Parish Council has issued the following statement on 13 December 2021:
“Councillors and members of the public are informed that due to the rapid rise in Covid 19 cases and following a risk assessment the Parish Council meeting on Monday 13 December 2021 has been cancelled.
It is disappointing to take this decision, but the health of our residents, staff and Councillors is paramount.
We would not wish anyone to become ill or have to isolate over the Christmas or New Year period, as this would be devastating for many who wish to see family and friends over this time.”
Meeting to be rescheduled
The Council told Ash Parish News that it will now review its risk assessment and the meeting will be rescheduled for 2022. This is subject to e availability of the larger hall and to any update guidance issued.
