Counter-Terrorism Alert: Remain vigilant

Police Appeal

Counter-Terrorism Alert Status

The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre yesterday afternoon changed the threat level for terrorism from substantial to severe.

In a statement Inspector Sam Turner (Borough Commander Guildford) said;

“In Surrey Police and Sussex Police, we are in continuous dialogue with Counter Terrorism Policing South East who are liaising closely with our partners. There is no intelligence to suggest we are in danger of an imminent attack following the incident in Liverpool on Sunday. However, given the recent attacks, it is only right that we all take measures to ensure the UK is prepared to protect our communities from this threat.”

“As we know, Communities Defeat Terrorism and the help and support we get from the public is a vital part of that. Members of the public should be urged to remain vigilant and encouraged to bring to police attention anyone they perceive may be vulnerable, a danger or escalating towards terrorism by calling the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321 or by visiting www.gov.uk/ACT”
