Sunday 14 November 2021 – Ash Remembers

On Sunday 14 November 2021, all residents are invited to attend the public service and parade at the War Memorial on Ash Hill Road. Members of the public are may congregate in the area surrounding the memorial and attend the public service. Ash Hill Road will be closed from 10:15 until 12:15 to allow residents to safely gather on the road and pavements.

Parade & Service

The Parade will leave the Ash Centre at 10:40 am and will process to the War Memorial at the top of Ash Hill Road. The service will include a two-minute silence at 11 am, hyms, wreath-laying, together with the North East Hants Area School Band.

Following the conclusion of the service, the parade will return to the Ash Centre. Residents and parade members are then invited into the Ash Centre for tea and coffee, organised by churches together with donations to charity. Also on display within the Ash Centre will be a memorial map describing the residential location of all the persons listed on the war memorial.

Veterans invited to participate

Former service personal are invited to participate in the parade, however, participants are asked to confirm their place by pre-registering via the Ash Parish Council office. The registration process is aimed at ensuring all needs and modes of access are catered for in advance of the parade. There is limited space at the War Memorial, if you have not pre-registered please make yourself known to a marshal on the day before the parade leaves.

Personal safety

Although this is an outdoor event, the use of facemask is recommended. This however remains a personal choice and some residents are exempt from wearing face masks. Residents are invited to join in singing hymns through the service, so please ensure adequate space.

Order of service

A printed order of service will be available to collect from the marshals and a QR code will be visible to obtain a digital copy via smartphone. Ash Centre Car Park Fri 12th November 2021 from 9 pm

This car park is being closed in advance of the remembrance Sunday parade. Any cars left in the car park will be removed at owners’ risk and cost.

Ash Hill Road

Due to the Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade, Ash Hill Road will be closed from its junction with the Shawfield Road/Vale Road/Wharf Road roundabout and its junction with the Fairview Road from 10:15  until 12:15 on Sunday 14th November 2021. Residents are asked to note that vehicle movement will not be allowed during the whole of the closure period. Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times. The closure barriers will be manned at all times, ask a member of staff if you have any questions.

Coronation Gardens Sunday 14th November 2021

Car Park Closure will be closed for safety reasons, this car park entrance will be closed between 10:15 am and 12 midday, whilst Ash Hill Road is closed to traffic. No vehicle entry or EXIT will be allowed between these times.
