1st Ash Vale Scouts have submitted plans as part of the £100m Your Fund Surrey project and needs local community support to make it happen. The current facilities used by Scouts, Guides and Brownies are “dilapidated” and need to be replaced by a new building which is custom designed as an “energy efficient meeting place”. The new building although primarily for Scout, Guide and Small Community Groups use, aims to foster comradeship, tackle loneliness, connect the community and provide a hub for green initiatives for all members of the local community.
The existing building and its land are owned by the 1st Ash Vale Scout Group, who have been in existence for 82 years.
Representatives from 1st Ash Vale Scouts have already consulted Members of Surrey County Council, who have given positive feedback to the proposals. However, this application still needs the wider support of local residents, as approval is by no means a guarantee. The £100m Your Fund Surrey programme is taking applications from all across the County and those with the greatest local community support will fair much better when it comes to the assessment stage.
